Spring Pet Safety Checklist
April 2, 2026 · 6 min read · Digital Pet Shop
Spring is exciting for pets and people alike. It is also when routines shift — more time outside, open doors, and seasonal plants appearing in yards and parks.
Check collars and ID tags for fit and readable contact info. Refresh flea and tick prevention if your vet recommends it for your region. After winter, inspect paws for cracked pads and nails that need a trim.
In the yard, store fertilizers and mulch out of reach. Many common spring bulbs and plants are toxic to dogs and cats. On walks, watch for discarded food, broken glass, and wildlife that can startle pets.
Traveling more? Make sure carriers are sturdy and cars are never left running with pets inside. A little planning now keeps spring adventures fun for everyone.
